PACKING TIPS

You have made your reservation Now it’s time to start getting ready for the big day. When moving with us you have the right to choose whether you would like us to provide you with a full packing service (Platinum Packing Service), a partial packing service or no packing at all and that means you will handle all the packing yourself. In this case, we have gathered some guidelines and tips to help you go through this process as easy as possible.
  • As soon as you know you are moving start packing!
  • Start packing items you do not use often. For example off season clothing, books, CDs, etc.
  • Make sure to seal the boxes with packing tape, be generous.
  • Be generous with the amount of paper you place in each box top and bottom to confirm it is well cushioned.
  • Mark on the box the contents of it and the room it is going to (i.e. Dishes/ Kitchen).
  • Try not to pack more than 50 Lbs per box keep in mind that every box has a maximum weight capacity and also think about the movers who will need to carry and lift the boxes to the truck.

Packing the Kitchen/Dining Room Since this is the busiest room in the house, it is usually the last one left unpacked. To ensure you stay organized, start packing those items you rarely use– special china, the Thanksgiving platter, etc. Get them out of the way early and you’ll cut down on the size of the job later. Get together all your dish towels and pot holders; use them for extra padding.
Flat Plates/China Plates
Place a generous amount of crumbled paper at the bottom of the box for cushioning. Wrap each plate separately with at least two sheets of white paper and than wrap up to three plates in a bundle. Place bundle on its edge only, do not lay flat (the edge is the strongest part of the plate). Make sure to place crumbled paper in between bundles up until you fill up the first level (make sure not to leave unfilled spaces). Again, place a generous amount of crumbled paper between layers. For extra safety, you can cut a piece of cardboard to fit the size of the box and use it to separate between the layers. Use a final layer of crumbled paper and then seal the box with a generous amount of tape and mark as: Fragile – Kitchen/Dinning Room – This Side Up. Bowls: Wrap the same way as plates.
Crystal/Glasses and Cups:
Use the same directions for the preparation of the box as it is explained above. Wrap each cup or glass separately with at least 2 sheets of white paper. When wrapping cups with handles; apply an additional sheet of white paper for extra protection. Place cups and glasses into the box facing up as if you were placing them on a table. Place a generous amount of crumbled paper between; make sure not to leave unfilled spaces between layers. Build up your second layer the same way and of course, keep in mind that placing a cardboard in between layers is the safest way to protect your dishes. Once you are done placing all layers, use a final layer of crumbled paper and then seal the box with a generous amount of tape and mark as: Fragile – Kitchen/Dinning Room – This Side Up.
